This is the best title for what I’m doing right now. This is the first blog post. I’ve read tips, I’ve read other blogs, I’ve done my research, and I am ready to go live!

Actually, not really. But I’m going to anyway.

Because the first step, right?

Here is the goal: I want to write and I want to share and I want to see what other folk are out there who like the things I like. And I want to chat with them. So, this is a bookish blog. But it’s also a teacher blog, because I’m a teacher. I teach a lot of fun stuff that makes me very excited and I feel like I can share some ideas with other teachers. So there’s that, too.

So, growth mindset, right? I will start as I mean to go on, though how I got on will change from how I started. Life is funny that way, isn’t it? Getting that first blog post out there is how we begin, and we can’t always be perfect, but we can always learn.

But each time I write, I’m going to attach some things that I am enjoying, in the hopes that I can share these things with you, and they might make your life spark a little, just as they have mine.

Some things I enjoyed this week

Reading: Skin Game by Jim Butcher. 📖

Pure fun. This is the 15th novel in the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. Think Chicago, think wizards, think faeries and fae and werewolves and vampires and…*deep breath* all manner of mystical and magical creatures. Now think Private Investigators. Harry Dresden is a wizard who works as a private investigator, exploring supernatural happenings in Chicago. That’s how the series starts. It’s wonderful to watch how the characters grow and change over time, and the stories are fast paced and thoroughly enjoyable. Maybe just my opinion? But Harry Dresden’s sense of humour, sarcasm, and relatability go a long way for me in this series as well. Highly recommend.

Listening to: Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History 👂

I love this. In my work as a Grade 7 teacher covering ancient history as part of the curriculum, he brings the ancient world to life as a gritty tale of human error, ambition, and conflict. It’s so good. I am listening to “Kings of Kings” right now, and loving it.

Thanks for reading, Friends. Have a great week.
